When the Preacher Puts Their Foot In Their Mouth

When The Preacher Puts Their Foot In Their Mouth

“Dentopedalogy is the science of opening your mouth and putting your foot in it. I’ve been practising it for years. ” Prince Phillip

It’s an OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD for every speaker, a fear we all live with – Putting Your Foot In Your Mouth.

If you’re a writer your bad draft goes in the garbage, if you make pottery you start again with the same piece of clay but if you’re a speaker once it’s out there, it’s out there:)

There is the classic, “Let everything that has breasts praise the Lord.”

There are also others that I’m not comfortable with repeating:)  I can’t tell you what our Youth Pastor said.

With great understanding, empathy and compassion I present to you the following Pastor Bloopers:)

Foolishness always results when the tongue outraces the brain.

One of our Pastors was leading worship on a Sunday and came out with “sacred thong” instead of “sacred throng”.  It was a weird visual of people dressed in that way following Jesus or barely dressed to be more accurate:)

I think we should all stick with, “I see that hand” and leave well enough alone.

I just wish my mouth had a backspace key.

When it comes to verses like that I slow down and say each word very slowly to avoid what this guy went through.

I saw a video where they pranked him by showing up,  posing as the FCC telling him they were going to shut down his church.   They got him pretty good:)

The more you speak the more chance of messing up.  Bloopers happen to the best of us.  If you’ve messed up, why try to hide it?  Acknowledge it, laugh at yourself and move on.  No harm done.
